Twiggy
So in the next three weeks I have four performances an inter exam and two upper school auditions! But last week I tore my hamstring ????! I've been seeing the physio and it is so much better than it was but I'm scared it not going to recover in time for me to dance to my full and to get finals at the school, one of them being my first choice school.help! I'm getting really anxious! Twiggy

Kat09
Twiggy - don't panic - maybe consider contacting the schools for a later audition date and at the very least advise them of your injury with a confirmation letter from your physio. Hope all goes well for you.

Tulip
Is there any way you could drop out of the performance due to injury, it is so important to rest during an injury, allow your body to get better and ideally see if your audition dates can be re arranged as has been suggested. Good luck
Pups_mum
I know it's easier said than done, but don't waste energy on things that you can't change. Instead of worrying about things that you can't control, try to focus on what you actually can do. As others have suggested, contact the schools and see if you can move your auditions. The same goes for the exam. If there is a genuine medical reason you can usually get your fees transferred to another date. I know it's not what you want to hear, but hamstring injuries are pretty nasty, and if not treated carefully can go on to cause trouble for a long time. It's natural to want to fight on and meet all these commitments that you have, but in the long term it may be better to miss or reschedule at least some of them. I appreciate that will probably feel like a big loss right now, but you are not going to perform at your best with an injury anyway, and if you cause further injury you stand to lose even more. I tore my hamstrings water skiing many years ago, and I couldn't even walk properly for weeks, never mind anything more strenuous! They are big muscles that unfortunately can take time to heal, so don't rush things.
Anna C
If you can get a doctor's note, you should be able to rearrange your Intermediate exam. The examining board should allow rescheduling due to injury. If you have a torn hamstring I'm not sure you should be dancing at all! If you have pulled your hamstring then you need to be very careful not to make things worse. You may need to double check with the Physio and get a doctor's note.
Anjuli_Bai
All the advice you are getting about allowing this to fully heal is important to listen to. The problem can become chronic if you don't allow it to heal fully. This means even after the pain is gone. I went through this and quickly learned the healing process cannot be rushed. But if you do it correctly it won't give you trouble in the future. Which is a good thing!
Vonrothbart
If you have a torn hamstring Twiggy, the decision is already made for you, you most definately won't be able to walk without difficulty never mind dance. Like most soft tissue injuries, the worst thing you could do is to try and do too much too soon, I would advise seeing a specialist in sports injuries, and when you think you're ready to start dancing give it another couple of weeks.
