Beryl H
Period 1 was huge, I'm still booking extra performances now, although period 2 will be much cheaper there are still lots of Onegin's too good to miss! Shame there isn't another triple bill instead of all those Swan Lakes.

chrischris
I guess people not cast in either Onegin or SL will be having a pretty quiet period, work wise.
aileen
I don't think that there will be anyone who is not cast in at least one of these ballets. Swan Lake needs a big corps (24 swans apart from anything else) and there are several soloist and 'national' dances.

aileen
They're not dancing in the corps or a 'character' role either? How do you know this? You don't know all the casting. Edited July 10, 2014 by aileen
aileen
Ok, I can see one person but that person doesn't (for reasons which are not clear to me) dance in the classics, and for some reason that person hasn't been cast in Onegin which would be a more obvious role. Ian Macmillan
All very cryptic - do you all think you're talking about the same dancers? Personally, I don't know who you're on about - would naming names help, or is this a game for a select few? No need to answer, I'm happy to watch in bewilderment.
aileen
Well, speaking for myself, I was referring to Edward Watson. He's only down to dance in Manon and Ceremony of Innocence in the first two periods of next season, but perhaps he has some other projects on the go that I, at least, am not aware of. alison
Well, and White Rabbit in Alice, presumably. But unless he's doing some early rehearsing for this project with Wendy Whelan, which is scheduled for next July, I don't know of anything either. alison
You may well be correct in your assumptions about the past, Alison, but (from what he has said) Kevin O'Hare seems to have secured the trust of Reid Andersen. Weren't they at the RBS together? Regarding the casting for Onegin, I have always assumed that the Cranko Estate have the final say. I spotted this at the top of the page when I posted earlier: it was confirmed at the insight evening that it was Kevin O'Hare and Jane Bourne who did the casting for this run. So now we know. Not sure if it made it to DVD but certainly there was a Yanovsky/Kish RB Swan Lake on sky. Edited February 7, 2015 by nottsballetlover
Melody
I think the only DVD of the current Swan Lake is the one with Marianela Nunez. Guess we'll just have to hope Yanowsky is recovered by the 21st, which is her only other scheduled performance of this run. Fonty
I was just checking something on the ROH website, and I hit the wrong button. Instead of what I wanted, I got the list of artists for the Royal Ballet. Under Principals, it lists 7 guest artists, which seems a huge number. I can remember the days when there where only one or, at the most, two. Also, listed among that number are Alessandra Ferri, and Mara Galeazzi. Anybody any idea what they might be doing? Nina G.
Well last Friday Yuhui Choe was again replaced by Yasmine Naghdi (I didn't mind at all and the ROH website did not announce the replacement on their website so we can't be too sure yet we will get to see Yuhui Choe this Friday. I have now seen all casts except Yuhui Choe.
