Birmingham Royal Ballet premiere: Luna - Birmingham, London. 3-5, 22-23 October 2024

The Birmingham Royal Ballet's new ballet  Luna, the final work in their trilogy about Birmingham, opened last night at the Birmingham Hippodrome, and continues till Saturday evening. London performances of the ballet will take place at Sadler's Wells Theatre on 22-23 October, followed  by performances of La Fille mal gardée on 25-26 October. 

 

With choreography by Arielle Smith, Thais  Suárez, Seeta Patel, Iratxe Ansa and Wubkje Kuindersma, with a concept by Carlos Acosta, Luna is inspired by the pioneering women of Birmingham and their joys and challenges. Luna is the final ballet of the trilogy following City of A Thousand Trades and Black Sabbath The Ballet. The music is by Kate Whitley and will be performed by a soprano, a baritone, a children's  choir and the Royal Ballet Sinfonia.
