Interesting news arrived from Japan. At the autumn Supers Stars Gala in Tokyo (4th - 6th October 2024) the following are scheduled to perform, among others:
Pas de deux du Corsaire (M. Petipa / R. Drigo)
Natalia Osipova / Vladimir Shklyarov

Pas de deux Manon (K. MacMillan / J. Massenet)
Natalia Osipova / Vladimir Shklyarov

Tchaikovsky pas de deux (G. Balanchine / P. I. Tchaïkovski)
Dorothée Gilbert (ONP) / Vadim Muntagirov

Adagio extrait du Corsaire (M. Legris - M. Petipa / A. Adam)
Dorothée Gilbert(ONP) / Vadim Muntagirov

The pairings are surprising to say the least…

I think it is appropriate to transfer the information about this Japanese gala to another thread as no German/Austrian/Swiss artist or company is involved.
This gala is very controversial as a certain Russian artist is announced to participate.

On another note, Stuttgart Ballet will be performing in Tokyo in November but no details (only dates, Nov2-4 Onegin and 8-10 Lady of the Camelias) has been revealed yet.

Osipova and Shklyarov are not a surprise pairing in that they’ve danced together before to much acclaim.  I’m aware of Manon, Giselle, and Marguerite & Armand.  Maybe others.

Muntagirov and Gilbert is a new pairing to me.  Could be interesting.

This may be reading too much into it but I wonder if Muntagirov dancing at a gala at the start of October with someone other than Kaneko might mean that she is cast in Alice in Wonderland? (As the Queen of Hearts rather than Alice.)

and/or dancing in the Encounters contemporary bill and probably the McGregor.

I’d say it’s more likely she’ll be tied up with the ballets in the contemporary bill.

Thank you for creating a new thread.

There are a lot of galas in Japan this summer, such as the World Ballet Festival and Ballet Asteras (Alina Cojocaru is performing in it)

World Ballet Festival with a pretty stellar line up (with the usual casting-may-change caveat) as well as La Bayadère with Nuñez/Clarke and Smirnova/Kim

What a treat that line up is for people who can afford to attend.  So may things to treasure.  So very pleased to see the stunning artist that is oh, so young Madoka Sugai in the line-up.  She is to Hamburg Ballet what the incendiary Mira Nadon is to NYCB.  New worlds alight as they step on the stage.

I guess Vladimir Shklyarov is excited about this perspective. For two years he has been posting videos and pictures from his performances with Natalia at the Royal Ballet, with nostalgic comments. He must have been expecting for quite a long time this new opportunity to dance together!

Every time this gala is held the casts are an amazing collection of elite dancers from all over the world.  Google the past years.  It’s a veritable who’s who of elite ballet over the decades.

Lucky Japanese audiences 🍀

I’d add May Nagahisa to this thought 👍

I believe there are a few (at least two) Japanese fans who posts clips of these two dancers together.  Vladimir Shklyarov reposts most videos when anyone tags him.  So it may be too much to assume he is personally excited about this opportunity.  He gets plenty of performances with the Mariinsky and regularly guests with elite dancers at gala concerts and in other projects in the two main cities.

Also Muntagirov is guesting in Asami Maki Ballet's Swan Lake on October 12th and 13th with Marianela Nunez.
