Naomi M Posted Monday at 13:45 Share Posted Monday at 13:45 (edited) I think it is appropriate to transfer the information about this Japanese gala to another thread as no German/Austrian/Swiss artist or company is involved. This gala is very controversial as a certain Russian artist is announced to participate. On another note, Stuttgart Ballet will be performing in Tokyo in November but no details (only dates, Nov2-4 Onegin and 8-10 Lady of the Camelias) has been revealed yet. Naomi M Posted Monday at 14:26 Share Posted Monday at 14:26 Thank you for creating a new thread. There are a lot of galas in Japan this summer, such as the World Ballet Festival and Ballet Asteras (Alina Cojocaru is performing in it)
FionaM Posted Monday at 19:40 Share Posted Monday at 19:40 Osipova and Shklyarov are not a surprise pairing in that they’ve danced together before to much acclaim. I’m aware of Manon, Giselle, and Marguerite & Armand. Maybe others. Muntagirov and Gilbert is a new pairing to me. Could be interesting.
Balletfanp Posted Monday at 21:12 Share Posted Monday at 21:12 Muntagirov and Gilbert did dance Giselle together a few years ago when he guested with POB and I believe (from reports, I didn’t see it) they were very good together.
Dawnstar Posted Monday at 21:37 Share Posted Monday at 21:37 This may be reading too much into it but I wonder if Muntagirov dancing at a gala at the start of October with someone other than Kaneko might mean that she is cast in Alice in Wonderland? (As the Queen of Hearts rather than Alice.)

Bruce Wall Posted Tuesday at 21:10 Share Posted Tuesday at 21:10 (edited) What a treat that line up is for people who can afford to attend. So may things to treasure. So very pleased to see the stunning artist that is oh, so young Madoka Sugai in the line-up. She is to Hamburg Ballet what the incendiary Mira Nadon is to NYCB. New worlds alight as they step on the stage. Edited Tuesday at 21:16 by Bruce Wall

He must have been expecting for quite a long time this new opportunity to dance together! I believe there are a few (at least two) Japanese fans who posts clips of these two dancers together. Vladimir Shklyarov reposts most videos when anyone tags him. So it may be too much to assume he is personally excited about this opportunity. He gets plenty of performances with the Mariinsky and regularly guests with elite dancers at gala concerts and in other projects in the two main cities.
