I was talking about those new to the role this season. Naghdi has never danced Alice as far as I'm aware. I would be surprised but I do hope she is given the role

Richard LH Posted Wednesday at 08:37 Share Posted Wednesday at 08:37 (edited) Olivia as Cook 😲 https://www.instagram.com/p/DABmzW5IlKD/?hl=en&img_index=1 Also Luca Acri with Akane...nice picture! https://www.instagram.com/stories/lucapino36/?hl=en Unfortunately the latter is a link to a "story" and won't stay there for more than 24 hours. art_enthusiast Posted Wednesday at 12:31 Share Posted Wednesday at 12:31 Due to expense I'd only booked for one Alice performance (Pantuso and Sambé). But I am very tempted to book for Akane, I haven't seen her on stage since Cinderella!

LinMM Posted Wednesday at 21:50 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:50 Unfortunately San Perregrino the Instagram link in your post won’t let me in. I’m not on Instagram but some posts let me see a few things and others not! For example I can see what Olivia and Akane have been getting up to in Richard LH link he posted but not in his Luca Acri post and same with Ella and Cesar 😥

Please correct me if I am wrong. Perhaps it is best not to mention the content of stories. If people wanted them to be on the record then they would include them on their main Instagram timeline.
LinMM Posted Thursday at 10:25 Share Posted Thursday at 10:25 Thanks for the info oncnp and Janet. I can’t usually see much on Instagram before the box comes up to sign in/ log on etc so can’t get past that! (Quite rightly) But it’s interesting which pages seem to allow me to see a few posts there and which pretty much nothing as of course I don’t follow anyone. Looks like Olivia and Akane were having quite a bit of fun. Am really looking forward to Alice on 28th now as haven’t been to the theatre since the end of June. If they wanted them to be private it's easy to do on Instagram, you can make stories available to close friends only instead of all your followers. Adding to stories is a quicker and more instantaneous way of posting to Instagram, not necessarily an "off the record" option.

If you are signed up for Instagram it is possible to see the stories of people you don't follow unless they have a private account...or have specifically restricted who can see the stories. As for the second part...Stories are very customisable in terms of their appearance, you can add writing, features such as polls and graphics on top of the photo that you can't do by posting on the feed. Plus, some content is better suited to the Story shaped aspect ratio. Edited Thursday at 11:43 by Rob S 5

Instagram stories also allow links which posts don’t … so one can link to articles, videos, ticket booking sites, etc. Which can make them more desirable than posts. Stories are as public as posts, so I don’t agree that they shouldn’t be linked here. Anyone following ballet is missing out BIG TIME by NOT having an Instagram account. You don’t need to post anything yourself, just follow many dancers and give yourself a daily treat with the richness of their sharing. FionaM Posted Thursday at 19:09 Share Posted Thursday at 19:09 (edited) More on Instagram usage … Some dancers get zillions of photos. It’s better to share these on stories (max 24 hours) and to pick a few for posts (permanent) Edited Thursday at 19:10 by FionaM
jmhopton Posted Thursday at 21:40 Share Posted Thursday at 21:40 Several years ago I joined Instagram just to follow a few dancers. It's a great way of finding out where they're dancing and what they're doing. I gave the bare minimum of personal information needed to join, no photo and have never posted a personal message. Occasionally I get 'suggested' people I've never heard of who have been recommended for me to follow. I just delete or mute them and that's that. But I have had a lot of pleasure from seeing photos and videos of dancers and hear about their guesting visits and life away from ballet. I'm not at all a fan of social media normally but as long as you set the parameters of what you want from it and stick to them it's a great source of information and entertainment.

LinMM
That’s a lovely pic of them both. I could see quite a lot including some videos on that site! Maybe it’s just a timing that brings up the “join Instagram” box. So if you stay on a particular site more than “x” mins ( about two it seems) then you get blocked. Thanks for your encouragement FionaM but I probably still won’t join even though I know I’m missing out as I spend far too much time on my phone already. I’m actually currently trying to wean myself off so much phone usage so if I started following dancers I’d never get out of bed in the morning!!!

I follow a few RB dancers on Instagram (in addition to some Scala, Amsterdam, Mariinsky and Paris dancers). It's a good way to get informed and also to follow their preparation of performances. My only regret is that they do not inform sufficiently in advance where and when they perform in galas or full performances abroad. In the last two years for instance, Natasha, Reece, Yasmine, Mayara, Matty and other wonderful RB dancers performed in amazing galas in Italy, where I would have loved to go, but posted about them much too late, most often on the very day of the gala
