BeauxArts
Sadly, the French composer and jazz musician Michel Legrand died today. As well as a number of wonderful film soundtracks (eg: Les Parapluies de Cherbourg, Les Demoiselle de Rochefort), Legrand also composed the music for the ballet Lillom for John Neumaier, and also worked with Pierre Lacotte. Here is a link to his obituary in Le Monde: https://www.lemonde.fr/disparitions/article/2019/01/26/le-compositeur-michel-legrand-est-mort_5414863_3382.html (Apologies no link to an English version - perhaps someone can kindly provide one ?!)
Sim
Thank you, Beaux-Arts. I have just read this obituary (I can read French so I haven't looked for an English version). What an amazing composer he was. Les Parapluies de Cherbourg is one of my favourite films. So sweet, and so sad. It gets me every time. M. Legrand has passed, but his music never will.
