PrancingMum
We were planning a half-term trip to the dance shops in Covent Garden but one of DD's dance school friends said they visited Bloch when they were in London yesterday and it is closing - surely not? Any insight from regular Bloch shoppers?
Anna C
Very surprised to hear that. It sounds as though Bloch is just moving though - this says the new store will be opening at the end of January: https://uk.blochworld.com/stores Perhaps the new store will be bigger? junedancer
Just a relocation as AnnaC has noted and yes the new store will be much bigger. Opening hours are changing from what I understand - later opening and closing. They are also diversifying with more sports and fashion lines. The industry article I read focused on the bespoke nature of the brand but I am not sure how they think pointe shoes compare to the other brands they were aligning it with such as watches, jewelry and the sports shoes. It is now not within walking distance of Capezio and Dancia so maybe not a good move for the dancers?
MAK
It's only moving a five minute walk from its current location and will be nearer (than now) to Floral Street and to Pineapple so it will be interesting to see how it does.
PrancingMum
Thanks for the information. I have just Googled Bloch London and it is showing the new location - they were still in Drury Lane yesterday - impressive updating.
junedancer
Okay I take that back MAK - it is within withing walking distance. 😊 We are just used to the trio of Bloch, Capezio and Dancia and being able to fit in a quick shopping trip taking in all three. We will just have to rework our route to class and the theatre. 😉

I was just thinking about what you were saying about diversification and wondering if the plan was to broaden the appeal and thus my mind wandered to Pineapple etc. When I first saw the Drury lane shop closed and empty looking a couple of weeks ago I did panic mildly!
LinMM
Walked right past it on Friday evening ....twice!! And didn't notice it had closed lol. I suppose it was dark and wouldn't have been open when I was passing but nevertheless am surprised didn't notice it was empty!! Monmouth St isn't that far away at all .....about the same distance from the station? Definitely doable if wanting a dance gear buying day in Covent Garden! Katia05
The Drury Lane shop was empty last Sunday when we walked past. I think it's opening this week in the new premises, but maybe phone them to make sure when exactly.
alison
Well, I walked all the way down Monmouth Street this evening without noticing the new store! (Admittedly it was dark ...)
Sheila Beelam
Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket and open up another Just Ballet shop in the empty shop in Drury Lane....🤪

They are turning the block into flats apparently.
LinMM
Had a quick deco at the new Bloch shop in Monmouth St yesterday. They've only just moved in so may be best to give them another week if seriously looking to buy etc.
Sheila Beelam
Yes, I’d heard the building was being sold for redevelopment into flats, just as well I don’t have a spare few million for a new shop Meanwhile you’ll have to all keep coming up to Wisbech! ❤️
PrancingMum
Oh dear the new Bloch store was a disappointment. The store looks nice and easy enough to find but we were expecting it to be bigger and a greater selection. No sale from us today but we did pickup some goodies elsewhere and enjoyed our trip to the ROH.
Balletforever
Does anybody know what the leotard selection is like in the new store? And how does it compare to the old store? I do love a bit of dance shopping when in London and debating whether to visit the new store tomorrow.
