Ian Macmillan
Katherine, I admit to not having noticed that - but I did find myself wondering was he about to head for the UK, or had he completed a tour already and, if so, what had he been flying? It's the 10 Squadron historian now in me that generates such thoughts about a fictional character!
Josephine
There is an encore screening of this mixed bill in Chichester at 1pm on Sunday 19 August. It seems worth mentioning here as it does not appear to be included in the encore screenings listed on the ROH's own Cinema webpage, as far as I can see. https://chichestercinema.org/film/bernstein-centenary-triple-roh-ballet
aliceinwoolfland
According to Lauren Cuthbertson on Instagram, Erdem and the Royal Ballet have won a 'creative collaboration' Walpole UK award. Emperor's new clothes...
Vanartus
Unfair! Erdem’s costumes were praised outside of our forum. And I for one and others I know liked them.
aliceinwoolfland
From The Telegraph: 'the costumes, by noted fashion designer Erdem, are a fright. True, in going for what appears to be a 21st-century take on classical antiquity, they do echo the old-meets-new spirit of the Bernstein. But, in striving so hard to be sexy, they miss it by a mile, while the black straps and ribbons that both encase the dancers’ bodies and flap distractingly around them might be described as “gaffer-tape chic”.'

bridiem
Not sure what you mean by that. I was simply challenging the idea (introduced by you) that the Telegraph is beneath contempt whereas fashion magazines are to be respected. I would have thought that every review should be judged with an open mind.
aliceinwoolfland
I'm slightly uncomfortable with your dismissive and combative tone, Vanartus. I don't think that dance critics in the Telegraph have an opinion less worthy than someone in a fashion magazine or another newspaper.
