amos73
I actually can't believe I this but I have just set up a spreadsheet to keep track of all the different summer schools dates, application deadlines, photo requirements, deposit cost etc. My head was starting to swim with all the different options, plus as so many summer school dates seem to conflict with each other AND school term times I needed to get it clear! Now I understand why other forum members have trumpeted the value of a good spreadsheet when it comes to auditions etc.
swanprincess
Myself & mum spent a good 3 hours one night last week making spreadsheets & colour-coded mind maps, trying to think about summer schools!!!

Peanut68
Oh dear - I am totally spreadsheet phobic....but I do see the benefit; particularly if I could present one to Hubbie with a cost/needs/benefit analysis to highlight just why a DC at vocational school still requires dance in the school holidays! I need to speak his language for him to perhaps understand ours? Any advice appreciated.... & if anyone wanted to share with me a spreadsheet template/example that would be just fantastic....please PM if anyone is happy to assist - thanks in advance! Katymac
I told you all years ago - spreadsheets are the future Although I am flirting with a database atm......
Peanut68
Katymac - as you seem to be the original 'Spreadsheet Queen' maybe you should produce some software to flog to us less organized ballet parents! A Ballet App perhaps where all summer school/audition info etc can be uploaded from one site/cloud (am trying to get with the times here..... )
southerndancemum
I can see the benefit but can't even visualise what it would look like :/
annaliesey
Maybe a dropbox shared folder or Google docs? I share a facebook group that has stuff listed as 'events' Maybe there's a v-bulletin forum tool for events? But I don't think the ones I've seen cater for coatings

Jan McNulty
Mind map: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mind_map I spent years working in IT (or whatever it is called these days) and have never been able to cope with spreadsheets (even though I know they are a subset of a database) but give me a database any day of the week!
shygirlsmum
Ha ha, thanks for that Janet. I'm more a spreadsheet kind of girl myself, I work in finance so use them constantly. I am a bit of a rebel in my home life and tend to live in organised chaos so perhaps I should try a mind map
