THE ROYAL BALLET 2021/22 SEASON ANNOUNCEMENT
bangorballetboy replied to a topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
Hi Darlex, unfortunately the Mods have had to delete the video link as it doesn't comply with AUP for copyright reasons. That said, the transformation scene as you describe it is significantly more satisfying artistically than what happens in the 'current' RB production. -
THE ROYAL BALLET 2021/22 SEASON ANNOUNCEMENT
bangorballetboy replied to a topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
The point I make, though, is that it's not left to your imagination. The coach appears from one set of wings and a moment later the fairy godmother throws the pumpkin into the other set of wings. There is no suggestion whatsoever, in my mind, that the pumpkin has transformed into a coach. -

Not sure I understand the point being made here. -
THE ROYAL BALLET 2021/22 SEASON ANNOUNCEMENT

FWIW I agree with the director. The current designs are not the originals and look very dated. Can you imagine in this day and age that the fairy godmother throws the pumpkin into the wings when it turns into a coach? And don't get me started on the dreadful, cringe-worthy Napoleon-style character who has got worse and worse over the years. -
THE ROYAL BALLET 2021/22 SEASON ANNOUNCEMENT
bangorballetboy replied to a topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
The director has said a number of times that he will only do Cinderella if it is redesigned and the owner of the ballet will not permit that. -
Darcey Busell went to Arts Ed. It’s included in the bio on her webpage. I’d take the rest of Harwel’s post with a pinch of salt. For example, Joseph Sissens’ and Olivia Cowley’s ROH bios state that they went to Tring before the RBS as did Rupert Pennefather’s when he was an RB principal.

Typically, just after I sent that I got an update email from the AELTC! They are hoping to increase capacity but will confirm after 21 June. "All tickets will be made available via an online sale, which we anticipate commencing in min-June."

There is no public ballot and those who had tickets for last year will be offered the same tickets for this year. Any that are not taken up will probably be offered to LTA members by ballot.

I think promoting on the basis of whom a dancer is in a relationship with would be very foolish.- 39 replies

Friday Singles at Royal Opera House

And they have done something that allows them to say to ACE that they have tried to maximise attendance and to the board that they have tried to maximise revenue. -
Friday Singles at Royal Opera House
bangorballetboy replied to bangorballetboy's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
because you’re helping a loved one through an incredibly difficult time? -
Just in from ROH: It was lovely to speak to so many of you last week and to hear how excited so many of you are to return to Covent Garden. We know that some of you were disappointed when you were unable to find a single ticket for your chosen performance(s). Although we had increased the number of single seats on sale (from November’s socially distanced seating plan), the demand far outstripped supply. We would like to reassure you that we have taken this feedback on board and have looked at how we can better manage the single ticket approach and how we can increase this allocation. We are therefore pleased to let you know that for the Spring/Summer 2021 programme we will be introducing Friday Singles. Every Friday at 1pm a strictly limited number of single seats will be released for each performance the following week. This new approach will start tomorrow, Friday 14 May, for performances during the week of Monday 17 May – Sunday 23 May inclusive and then every Friday at 1pm for the following Monday-Sunday until the end of the Spring/Summer programme. These tickets can only be booked by telephone through the Box Office on +44(0)20 7304 4000. They will not be available online or through the ROH Friends’ team. If you would like to take advantage of Friday singles then please telephone the Box Office at 1pm, the Friday before the performance(s) you wish to see, on +44(0)20 7304 4000. Tickets are strictly limited. We expect this offer to be very popular and to sell out very quickly. Our re-opening is in line with the latest UK Government guidance and we will continue to review and follow Government advice. You can now attend a performance in groups of up to six people or two households. You must practise physical distancing from other groups at all times. Seven of our main stage performances will also be available on ROHStream across the programme. We would like to thank all Friends and supporters for their patience in recent months, and we look forward to welcoming you all for the 2021/22 Season, our first full season in 18 months. We also look forward to returning to full capacity houses from September once COVID guidance allows.

I agree with Fiona; I've a feeling the system just can't cope with the processes and may (for whatever reason) be including seats that cannot be booked in the availability figures. Whilst it's incredibly frustrating (e.g. all of the RBS Linbury performances are showing availability when they are sold out), I can understand an unwillingness to throw money at what is (we all hope) a temporary problem.
